The file is processed on this server and deleted as soon as the response is sent. Nothing is stored, and the result is returned directly to you rather than parked behind a link.

The text
Up to 2 MB. UTF-8 or Windows-1252; the contents are checked, not just the name.
One or the other: a submission with both a file and pasted text is refused, because only one of them can be what gets converted. At most 20000 lines.

Points, from 8 to 24. 11 is ordinary reading size.
Line breaks, blank lines and tabs are kept; a form feed starts a new page. Text the font cannot draw is refused by name rather than printed as empty boxes.

Frequently asked questions

How does Text to PDF work on MakeOverPDF?
Set a plain-text file or pasted text as a typeset PDF. MakeOverPDF runs TCPDF with DejaVu Sans on the server and returns: One PDF, downloaded immediately.
Is Text to PDF free and private to use?
Yes. MakeOverPDF requires no user account, watermarks nothing unless you use the watermark tool, and deletes your uploaded document from the private working directory as soon as the request finishes.
What are the file size and page limits for Text to PDF?
Paste the text or upload a .txt file — one source per submission, so the two can never disagree about what was converted. Line breaks and blank lines are kept as they are, and a line too long for the page wraps at the margin instead of running off it. A tab becomes spaces at four-character stops; columns line up only in the monospace option, and only because every character there is the same width. A form feed — the character plain-text files have always used to mean "new page" — starts a new page. Files are read as UTF-8, or as Windows-1252 when they are not UTF-8, which is what most "ANSI" .txt files really are. A file carrying control characters is treated as a binary file with a text file's name and refused, rather than typeset into nonsense. Characters the chosen font cannot draw are refused instead of printed as empty boxes. Measured, not assumed: typesetting Chinese with DejaVu produces a perfectly valid PDF whose pages are rows of blank rectangles, while the text still extracts as though it were there. DejaVu Sans covers Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew and Arabic — it has no CJK, no emoji and no Devanagari. At most 20,000 lines and 2 MiB of text in one submission, stated here rather than discovered by a timeout: every line is positioned separately.
